OCBA Members,

Many of you have asked how you can help make a difference in the lives of those affected by the LA Fires. For your consideration, below is information on a handful of charitable organizations that are accepting donations aimed at providing support and assistance for fire victims and first responders.

Thanks,

Sharon Oh-Kubisch and Daniel Robinson

YOUTH MENTORING CONNECTION

Youth Mentoring Connection has a wildfire relief focused on at-risk youth and their families.

While large organizations are receiving the bulk of donations, smaller groups like YMC can pinpoint and nimbly respond to specific needs. For instance, YMC distributed air purifiers immediately because we were already connected to families who desperately needed them. YMC is providing hygiene kits, wellness supplies, and other overlooked essentials to shelters. YMC has been taking the youth out to shelters to volunteer and deliver supplies, as well as using program sessions to package things like the hygiene/wellness kits.

OPERATION HELPING HANDS SOCAL

Given OHH’s dedication to providing assistance to individuals unhoused and/or housing insecure, we believe we should offer a mechanism for donors to rest assured 100 percent of their donation is going directly into the hands of Alta Dena fire victims.

Now through February 28th OHH will collect donations. We will continue to meet and connect with victims from Alta Dena who have lost their homes. We will continue to provide those victims with necessities such as requested goods, gift cards to Door Dash, Grub Hub, Instacart, Target or local grocery stores, or funds to ensure they are housed.

Visit www.ohhsc.com to donate. Cash and Checks are accepted at our office located at 26021 Acero, Mission Viejo, CA 92691.

CALIFORNIA FIRE FOUNDATION

The California Fire Foundation is working with local fire agencies and community-based organizations to provide direct financial support to impacted residents as details of the damage emerge.

Your donation to the CFF Wildfire & Disaster Relief Fund directly supports victims of wildfires and disasters throughout California.

THE AMERICAN NATIONAL RED CROSS

As dangerous fire weather conditions once again blanket southern California, thousands are struggling after losing everything. The American Red Cross is there, providing help and hope with necessities like food, shelter, emotional care, recovery planning and financial assistance.

More than 15,000 structures have already been destroyed and more could be threatened this week. People should remain vigilant, be prepared to evacuate and follow instructions from local authorities.

Visit the American Red Cross website for more information.
