Dear Members and Friends of the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County,
April 2022 has been a historic month for us. We had two historic appointments, the first Latina Justice Patricia Guerrero appointed to the California Supreme Court and the first Black woman Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to serve on the United States Supreme Court. These appointments give us hope for the future, hope for our future generations where little girls and boys in our country can look up to the highest courts of our state and nation and see themselves being represented. We must celebrate these victories, but keep in mind that we all have much more work to do to make sure our courts are diversified and continue on our quest for equal justice for ALL. This responsibility falls on all of us and we must all continue to work together to do better for each other and our future generations. We are beyond proud to witness history in the making and we look forward to the changes these and other diverse appointments will bring to the future of our legal system.

Along with the great news of these historical appointments, we have been busy here at the HBA. We adopted a class from Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Santa Ana and provided the children with Easter baskets filled with fun toys, fidgets and fun treats. |

We keep celebrating a great month here at the HBA! Our very own past President Yolanda V. Torres was appointed as Judge in the Orange County Superior Court. We are very proud to call her a member of the HBA and delighted to see her join the ranks of our Orange County Judges, congratulations!

As we continue celebrating a great month of April, we will welcome May with our fast approaching Cinco de Mayo event. Please join us for our Annual Cinco de Mayo de Barranda on May 5, 2022 at 5pm at Country Garden Caterers in Santa Ana. It will be a fun night to network, meet new people, catch up with old friends and enjoy good appetizers and drinks, sign up today.
