Dear Members and Friends of the Hispanic Bar Association of Orange County,
We are beyond proud to open this newsletter with the great news of the appointment of Justice Patricia Guerrero to the California Supreme Court. Justice Guerrero is making history as she is the first Latina to be appointed to the California Supreme Court. Justice Guerrero comes from an immigrant family and she expressed her gratitude by crediting her success to her family, stating “I am here because of the courage, sacrifices and dedication of my parents, grandparents who, like many others, came to this country with the hope of a brighter future for their children.” It is a great honor for all of us to have Justice Guerrero blazing this trail and making history, paving the way for future generations of Hispanics in the United States. Justice Guerrero’s knowledge, tenacity, fairness, compassion and commitment to our justice system is admirable. Her appointment as the first Latina to the highest court in California is evidence of the enduring promise of the American Dream. As she has clearly shown ¡Si se puede!

Along with the great news of Justice Guerrero’s historical appointment, we have the great news of reporting that Our 44th Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Installation Dinner was a sold out event and complete success! Our success could not have been achieved without each one of our members and sponsors, you truly made this year a year to remember!
We are very proud of our 2021 Wally Davis Scholarship recipients and our Bar Stipend recipient and cannot wait to see them flourish into leaders within the Orange County Legal community.

Although we are holding in person events, we remind all our members to keep safe and healthy during this pandemic. The Biden Administration is still providing 4 Free At-Home COVID-19 Tests for all households, if you are interested, sign up to receive them here.
Our members will soon embark on a journey to Belize for our yearly CLE trip. This years' trip is sold out, but we hope you all will travel with us next year. We will be reporting all travel adventures upon return, please join me in wishing everyone safe travels!

Last but not least, Thurgood Marshall Bar Association is holding a Bar Supplement Program with locations in Irvine and Santa Ana. They will be covering introduction to the bar, essay tips and multiple choice exam tips.
