Schachter joins Keller Rackauckas LLP as Associate attorney
Keller Rackauckas LLP
, is pleased to announce that Michael A. Schachter has joined the firm as an associate. Before joining Keller Rackauckas, Schachter was an associate at Paul Hastings in New York, where he gained significant experience in all phases of pretrial litigation.
Schachter will focus on complex business trials at Keller Rackauckas. He is admitted to practice in both New York and California.
Schachter earned his B.A. from Harvard University in 2005 and J.D. from the New York University School of Law in 2010, where he was a Michael McKay Scholar and editor of the NYU Environmental Law Journal.
Before graduating, Schachter was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Myron H. Thompson of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Alabama, a trailblazing jurist and the first African-American federal judge in Alabama. After leaving the District Court, Schachter clerked for the Honorable Stephanie K. Seymour of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Judge Seymour is also considered a trailblazer for women in the law and on the bench.
Schachter has made substantial contributions to pro bono work, including: at Paul Hastings, he successfully representing two minors seeking special immigrant juvenile status findings from state courts; intern for the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn and student advocate at the Civil Rights Clinic at NYU School of Law. Schachter also interned for the ACLU of Washington State and the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division in Washington, D.C.
Between college and law school, Schachter spent two years as an elementary school teacher in Charlotte, North Carolina, through Teach for America.
